Where Do You Find Voice Talent?

We’ve had several great posts about the importance of high-quality audio, with tips on how to improve your audio. But there’s one aspect of your audio production that you can only improve up to a certain point: Your own voice. If you’re not lucky enough to possess the silk-smooth crooner of a radio DJ, where do you turn when you want to include a voice-over in your screencast?

Thankfully, there are websites out there that help you find professional voice-over talent for just such projects.

Here are just a few that I have come across:

Voices.com: On this site you can post details of your project and get quotes directly from interested voice talent. Voice talent charge their own fees based on the word count of your script and how the audio will be used. You can also search and hear samples of artists.

Voice123.com: This is another marketplace-type site, where you upload details of your project, and the voice talent can ‘audition’ and send a proposal. They also have a searchable database where you can hear audio samples and contact an artist directly.

Internetjock.com: This site has a large searchable database. Find a voice you like and simply click “order”.  This site has set prices per type of project and time.

Voicesonlinenow.com: This is another site that’s more like an agency rather than a marketplace. You search for a voice you like, then request an estimate and order.

These are just a few of the many sites to choose from. You can also find lots of individuals who promote their voice-over businesses on their own sites.

Where do you find your voice-over talent? Do you have site that you’ve used that you’d recommend? If so, comment below and share the knowledge!

Well, Chris, you’re lucky enough to have a silk-smooth crooner like you hear on the radio 🙂 Some of us that aren’t so lucky sound like quacking ducks… that’s why we hire people like you to help us out.

  2. Hello everyone,

I am just breaking into the VO business, and am willing to help out a few people for free with the understanding that I can use the video/voice for my portfolio.

I have two samples available at http://www.bryanjzimmerman.com as well as a book trailer I did at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciH1uJVzaMs

Shoot me an email if you are interested and “serious.” My email address is bryan (at) bryanjzimmerman (dot) com.

    Kind Regards,
    Bryan J Zimmerman
